In 2006 a Campaign called “Love Not Riots” was created to raise awareness of the need for safer behaviour in festival campsites across the UK. Love Not Riots is now recognised by festival and music communities throughout the country. So far the campaign has proved successful in reaching its aims of raising awareness throughout the festival community. It has provided like-minded individuals with a positive message to support as well as a way to show solidarity in the faces of those who, whether intentionally or not, spoil festivals for hundreds of music lovers every year, not to mention jeopardise the very festivals that they claim to love
2009 is Love Not Riots’ fourth year, and whilst the campaign has been successful in everything that it initially aimed to achieve, we and many of our supporters agree that Love Not Riots has, in effect, reached its potential in raising awareness and should now be looking into making itself more pro-active, aiming to improve festivals across the UK by providing an organisation that works directly with both attendees and organisers to address issues that could enhance the overall festival experience.
Therefore The Better Festival Group (BFG) has been created.
The main objective of BFG is to create an independent organisation that would aim to build good quality working relationships between Festival Organisers and Festival Attendees through the use of Focus Groups as well as implementing customer service initiatives to improve the overall customer experience, from Camp Site Hubs to publicise onsite complaints, comments and suggestions desks.
We aim now to work alongside festival organisers, in implementing various additions to their event, which will help continually improve their festival. We help organisers put into action and manage, things such as, Focus Groups, Feedback and Information stands and campsite personnel.
This also offers up a great opportunity for supporters of the former Love Not Riots campaign and festival fans, to take a more active role by volunteering their time to the festivals that we work with.
To date, BFG (and Love Not Riots previously) have been present at Reading 06, 07 , 08, and 09, Leeds 06, 07, 08 & 09, Download 07 and Electric Gardens 07, Lounge on the Farm 07, Sonisphere 09 and Bloodstock 09.
We still very much believe in our “Love Not Riots” motto and hope that you will all offer BFG the same support you offered Love Not Riots and more
