Glasto 2010 – Rolling Stones and Green Day out, Dizzee in for a second year alongside U2

Article by Tom Mack

Iconic rockers The Rolling Stones have announced that, contrary to recent media speculation, they will not be touring in 2010. Rumours that the band were intending to hit the road this year without guitarist Ronnie Wood were smashed today by their spokesperson who has said that “The Rolling Stones would like to make it clear there are no plans at the moment for the band to tour in 2010.” It had been reported by several entertainment news outlets that band members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts were in talks to find a tour replacement for Wood following his alleged alcohol addiction and high-profile arrest on domestic abuse charges.

Green Day too are out of the running for an appearance at the 2010 Glastonbury Festival according to event organiser, Emily Eavis. The Californian punk rock trio were widely rumoured to be gracing the Pyramid stage alongside celebrated Irish rockers U2, who are confirmed as headlining the UK’s top date in its music festival calendar. Speaking to Lauren Laverne on the BBC6 Music morning show, Eavis categorically denied reports that Billie Joe and Co would be on the bill, but has all but confirmed her favourite rapper, saying: “”We’ve gotta have Dizzee, I think that’s a given.”

With this year marking the festival’s 40th anniversary, we think this is one to watch closely. We know you will be…
